About The Position

Sr Control Systems Engineer The Role: Entegris is currently seeking a Sr Control Systems Engineer to join our Advanced Purity Solutions Division. This position will be at our San Luis Obispo, CA facility. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced control systems and automation solutions for industrial processes . This role involves leading projects, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and optimizing system performance to improve efficiency and reliability. What You’ll Do: Design & Development: Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation. Create electrical schematics and control panel layouts using CAD tools. Design new systems from scratch with functional process design Programming & Integration: Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, and motion control systems. Integrate sensors, actuators, and instrumentation into automated systems. Troubleshoot, making changes to existing systems on production floor (hardware & software) Support Field Service Engineers in commissioning & post-sales activities Project Leadership: Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software). Leadership/mentorship of other team members Attending multi-functional meetings, representing Team Testing & Commissioning: Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing). Ensure systems meet performance, safety, and compliance standards. Optimization & Maintenance: Analyze system performance and implement improvements. Provide technical support and training for maintenance teams. Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, control logic, and user manuals. Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or mechatronics (Masters degree preferred).
  • 7+ years’ experience in industrial environments as controls engineer with progressive career growth.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens), SCADA systems, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPLAN).
  • Knowledge of safety standards (NFPA 79, IEC 61131, OSHA).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred
  • Experience in robotics, motion control, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Familiarity with MES and ERP integration.
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems desired.
  • Control Systems PE will be a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

  • Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
