As a Sr Consultant, you will act as a high-level individual contributor and subject matter expert within the business unit to discover and design inorganic product offerings. You will leverage your research skills and subject matter expertise will build foundational business cases for new offerings that will support the strategic growth goals of our E&S/S businesses. To be successful, you will need to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers, partners, vendors, E&S/S Executive team, leaders and staff, Product, Finance, Legal, P&C and Enterprise Innovation, Enterprise Ventures and Emerging Business Group, as well as other groups as needed. You must be able to structure complex problems and develop creative solutions, take independent action, and adapt well to change. You will need to understand specific business dynamics, company context and strategy, and use this knowledge for problem-solving and to effectively communicate key messages to all audiences, regardless of medium, and deliver a high-quality work product that is supported by fact-based analysis and is in line with all commitments.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in business administration, risk management, economics, finance/accounting, data science, statistics.
  • Typically, 10 or more years of customer-facing consumer or business product development and product management experience, including defining, launching and optimizing products and services.
  • Professional and management experience in insurance value chain either with a carrier, a broker/distributor, risk manager, or InsureTech.
  • Experience leading large, company-wide projects and in the technical aspects of data management, imaging and procedures and processes helpful.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and insurance policy language development.
  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to identify innovative and creative ways to solve customer problems and deliver profitable growth for the organization.
  • Proven general knowledge of program development and lifecycle management processes, the ability to think strategically and execute methodically, and deep customer empathy and curiosity that’s paired with knowledge in how to gather and synthesize consumer needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial documents, financial analysis, investments, and market conditions are essential.
  • Legal knowledge related to insurance, contract and business law is valuable.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Highly capable of communicating, negotiating and interacting with senior leadership, internal and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Job – Industry specific certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), AIPD (associate in insurance Product Development), CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), RIMS Certified Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) desired.
  • Exposure to technology-driven solutions and startup ecosystems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify product, program, and alternative risk solution opportunities in existing and new markets, aligning them with organizational goals and market conditions.
  • Translate business, consumer, and end-user needs into products, services, and experiences that deliver value using frameworks such as desirability, feasibility, viability, and build/buy/partner.
  • Assist in policy form structure and content development, ensuring underwriting intent is accurately reflected in language.
  • Evaluate product and profitability impacts of policy form language and maintain knowledge of standard industry forms, rules, ratings, and proprietary products.
  • Lead development and implementation of new product delivery components, including underwriting guidelines, rates, forms, endorsements, and procedures.
  • Institutionalize learning from productive failures and foster an entrepreneurial mindset throughout the innovation process.
  • Monitor industry trends, startups, and technology developments; anticipate future movements and communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Attend industry functions to promote the brand and identify new business opportunities.
  • Act as a resource for guidance and training for less experienced staff; may oversee underwriting and support personnel.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance regulations and provide consulting on legislative impacts.
  • Structure and deliver presentations and memos to communicate benefits of potential opportunities to leadership.
  • Balance multiple projects, independently, across various lines of business while maintaining quality and timeliness.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
