The Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist position is filled by a professionally certified (AHIMA) coder and is responsible for coding inpatient accounts while employing all Federal and State regulations. NCHS (CDC) and AMA coding guidelines and the AHIMA code of ethics will be strictly adhered to while applying codes to each account. The Senior Coder will have an elevated understanding of Federal and State coding mandates, while employing hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and compliance plans. #LI-DNI The Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist will perform all job functions in a virtual and paperless office utilizing: ICD-CM Diagnostic and Procedure codes CPT HCPCS level II codes The EHR 3M Computer Assisted Coding Financial and Reimbursement System Other software products as needed for data collection The Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist codes will be used for the following purposes: Reimbursement DRG data Research The Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist will be knowledgeable compliant with: ICD-CM Official Guidelines Coding Clinics (Published by the American Hospital Association) CPT Assistant (Published by the American Medical Association) CMS NCCI Edits AHA CPT Coding guidelines UHDDS guidelines AAPC and AHIMA Code of Ethics Children's Mercy Hospital coding rules and guidelines The Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist must have knowledge of all regulatory agencies and guidelines outlined above. In addition, the Senior Coding & Reimbursement Specialist must demonstrate the ability to specifically discern between the various regulatory resources and the impact each rule and or regulation has on every code assigned.
