Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered or Certified as a Medical Assistant required from an accredited school.
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience is required.
  • Previous experience working in electronic medical records is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment (Universal Precautions).
  • Ability to work with clinical staff, work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to preventive health care programs and team approach to health care delivery.
  • Strong typing and computer skills, including understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in all medical assistant duties and responsibilities.
  • Access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year experience as LCH Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Prior experience as medical assistant, patient care technician, or certified nursing assistant preferred.
  • Bilingual/Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Basic front desk, clerical, or support specialist skills/experience helpful.
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor Medical Assistants, fostering their professional growth and confidence in clinical roles.
  • Provide guidance and support to preceptors and Medical Assistants to ensure team excellence.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Nurse Manager (RNM) to design and implement tailored clinical training programs.
  • Update education materials and workflows for seamless integration across service lines.
  • Identify and report clinical safety, quality, and training deficiencies to management for improvement.
  • Conduct routine chart audits to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to best practices.
  • Participate in monthly inventory reconciliation for supplies, medications, and vaccines.
  • Serve as the Vaccines for Children program coordinator, as needed.
  • Work two shifts per pay period as a Medical Assistant to stay connected to patient care.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and promptly reporting concerns.
  • Promote teamwork and effective working relationships to achieve departmental goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Legacy’s quality control policies, including specimen handling and instrument calibration.
  • Foster patient partnerships to enhance access, continuity, and self-management skills through a team-based approach.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
