About The Position

GCG Custom Engineered Solutions (CES) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Sr. Buyer to join our growing supply chain team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their purchasing career who is ready to take on more responsibility, learn from experienced supply chain professionals, and make a measurable impact on daily operations. As the Sr. Buyer, you’ll support manufacturing and distribution activities by managing inventory levels, processing purchase orders, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. You’ll work closely with procurement, supply chain, and commercial leaders to ensure timely, cost-effective purchasing decisions and contribute to process improvements that keep our business moving efficiently. If you’re analytical, collaborative, and ready to grow in a fast-paced environment, this position offers the opportunity to develop your skills in purchasing, vendor management, and supply chain analytics within a supportive and dynamic team. This role offers a remote work arrangement however we are seeking candidates in either the Eastern or Central Time Zones to allow for alignment of work schedules with our Supply Chain team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or similar field strongly preferred; relevant industry experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations in industrial distribution or manufacturing, preferably within the wire and cable industry
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge with ERP systems and purchasing workflows
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Incoterms, freight terms, or global purchasing practices is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own complex purchasing activities for assigned categories and vendors, including supplier follow-up and issue resolution.
  • Manage and coordinate supplier RFQs, including obtaining, comparing, and tracking quotes from approved vendors.
  • Issue, process, and manage timely complex multi-line, multi-product purchase orders; maintain accuracy of purchasing and inventory data in the ERP system.
  • Partner with suppliers to confirm order details and delivery schedules, negotiate pricing/lead times and delivery terms, and resolve issues to support on-time delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure supplier reliability and performance against quality, cost, and delivery KPIs.
  • Maintain material availability by monitoring project-based requirements and distributor inventory; optimize inventory levels and minimize stock-outs.
  • Oversee cable and component inventory stocked for distribution within Renewable Energy and Utilities; interface with Operations and Warehouse to support receiving, stocking, and availability.
  • Maintain strong line of communication between Sales and suppliers to support order status visibility, expedite when required, and ensure alignment on customer commitments.
  • Perform purchasing and inventory-related administrative tasks with a high degree of accuracy; contribute to supplier evaluations and performance reviews as needed.
