Primary Purpose Lead analysis and documentation in support of regulatory filings, testimony, exhibits, and data requests, partnering closely with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and internal stakeholders to meet strict deadlines. Own and maintain metrics, reporting, and performance tracking tied to customer financial operations, including data validation, trend analysis, and narrative development for leadership and external audiences. Serve as a subject‑matter expert for Credit, Collections, and Revenue Management processes, translating regulatory, operational, and financial requirements into clear business artifacts and recommendations. Partner cross‑functionally with IT, Operations, Customer Operations, and Finance to define business requirements, assess impacts, and support implementation of system changes, policy updates, and process improvements. Develop and maintain business documentation (requirements, process flows, narratives, exhibits, and reference materials) to ensure consistency, auditability, and institutional knowledge. Support project and initiative execution by identifying risks, dependencies, and impacts; tracking deliverables; and ensuring alignment with approved scope, timelines, and regulatory commitments. Respond to ad‑hoc analytical and information requests from leadership, providing concise, accurate insights and recommendations under time‑sensitive conditions. Review work products prepared by peers or junior analysts for accuracy, completeness, and clarity; provide constructive feedback and support knowledge sharing across the team. Communicate complex topics clearly and professionally to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including leadership briefings and written summaries. Uphold strong governance, controls, and data integrity practices, ensuring outputs are defensible, repeatable, and aligned with ComEd and Exelon standards. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering AND 4-7 years of related business experience, or in lieu of degree, 6-9 years of relevant business experience is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e.g., asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning).
  • Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project), specialized business technologies and applications (e.g., workforce management, project management, PassPort, Brio, CIS, EPS, Business Objects, SAP planning, business modeling, forecasting, voice response unit, automatic call distributors, work management, outage management) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs.
  • Ability to provide in-depth analysis and apply managerial accounting concepts, customer intelligence gathering, forecasting, staff planning, scheduling, analytical and statistical problem solving, financial, accounting, business and budget analysis.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership.
  • Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance. Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.

Nice To Haves

  • Prepare written testimony related to rate cases & required filings (e.g., Rider UF, Rider PORCB, Performance Metrics). Requires effective writing skills and coordination with Revenue Management, Legal, Regulatory, and other Customer Ops departments to obtain information. It is helpful to have an understanding of our processes and to identify how our processes address concerns or questions from external parties.
  • Prepare responses for Data Requests from the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) and other external parties. Requires an understanding of what data is available and how it can be used to address the questions from regulators. It is helpful to have a strong understanding of the data and our processes to identify any gaps or risks involved with our responses. Similar to the written testimonies, this also requires effective writing skills and collaboration with Revenue Management, Legal, Regulatory, and other departments.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to evaluate scenarios and understand impacts of proposed regulations. For proposed regulations or process changes, work with involved parties to estimate impacts on our processes and finances. This often requires Excel & PowerPoint skills to analyze historical data and present findings in a concise, easy-to-understand way. Requires ability to analyze customer data and payment information to identify key drivers. Includes working with data scientists to extract data, determine how best to get needed information, then analyze the results to achieve the desired outcome. Examples of this type of work include proposals for changes to our Disconnection strategy, changes to credit & collection process (late fees, deferred payment agreements, etc), offerings of financial assistance programs, and proposals for performance metrics.
  • Develop communications and presentations to share key information with leadership and departmental personnel. For the items mentioned above, it is often required to communicate strategy, updates, and results to other employees and outside parties. This often involves the use of PowerPoint to effectively tell a story in a concise, easy-to-understand way.
  • Support various initiatives, such as Part 280 rulemaking & workshops, Low-income rate study, Affordability performance metrics, and Community Roundtable. Requires planning & collaboration with other departments and external parties, along with strategic thinking, analysis, and communication skills to ensure a holistic and consistent approach across each of the initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct short-term and long-range business planning.
  • Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other financial and operational analysis (e.g., operational effectiveness, budget, resource, workload, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor, etc.).
  • Provide statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and/or materials for business operations.
  • Monitor and coordinate activities to manage operational performance (e.g., safety, reliability, service level, productivity, etc.) and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Track, maintain, analyze and provide current information on the operation's business scorecard or key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform analysis of the operation's cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive and detailed reports.
  • Develop, organize and present detailed performance reports for both internal and external use.
  • May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives).
  • Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit.
