About The Position

The Senior Building System Technician plays a critical role in maintaining optimal building performance, safety compliance, and tenant satisfaction across JLL's commercial properties. This position focuses primarily on fire life safety systems while supporting comprehensive mechanical operations through proactive maintenance, emergency response, and regulatory compliance. You'll be instrumental in ensuring continuous building operations while maintaining the highest safety standards that protect both tenants and property assets. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 5+ years of commercial building maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated fire life safety system experience with working knowledge of NFPA codes and compliance requirements
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and plumbing troubleshooting skills with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license and ability to respond to emergency calls outside normal business hours
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work comfortably at heights, in confined spaces, and with hand/power tools

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree, trade school certification, or relevant professional certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or fire safety systems
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management technologies
  • Previous experience in high-rise commercial buildings or multi-tenant properties
  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and digital work order platforms

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and fire suppression equipment per NFPA codes and local requirements
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building automation controls to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency
  • Execute preventive maintenance on critical mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, chillers, and boilers while maintaining detailed inspection records
  • Respond promptly to fire system alarms, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate effectively with fire safety vendors and regulatory inspectors
  • Complete work orders efficiently, document all repairs thoroughly, and assist with tenant improvement projects and space modifications
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and after-hours on-call rotation to ensure continuous building operations coverage
  • Interface professionally with tenants, contractors, and regulatory officials while maintaining JLL's high standards of customer service
