About The Position

The Role Our Colorado Springs, Rockrimmon site is seeking a Senior Automation Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead and support installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of automation equipment introduced to the factory. You will mentor technicians, ensure safety compliance, and collaborate with engineers to maintain and improve automated systems.

Requirements

  • Vocational/trade school degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • 8+ years troubleshooting/programming Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, servo/stepper drives, and robots (Fanuc, Sepro, Star).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read/update electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Proficient in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication skills; ability to train others.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work occasional weekends/OT.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or CAD.
  • Advanced robotic programming and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience with injection molding, machining, cleanroom practices.
  • Familiarity with vision systems (Keyence), AMRs, AGV traffic control.
  • Experience in equipment procurement and installation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and optimize automation equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot robots and secondary equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians on design, fabrication, and problem-solving.
  • Train technicians on technical skills, standards, and equipment.
  • Design and implement jigs, fixtures, and automation solutions.
  • Work with electrical (AC/DC), pneumatic, hydraulic systems, servo motors, sensors, and HMIs.
  • Conduct safety reviews, risk assessments, and equipment confirmations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and proper functioning of interlocks.
  • Support programming and equipment specification development.
