About The Position

The Energy Engineer supports Pfizer's Net Zero Program by driving measurable energy and emissions reductions across site utilities and infrastructure. This role is accountable for energy performance monitoring (EnPI), Clockworks analytics, and execution of the Net Zero Master Plan, ensuring the delivery of an annual 3.5% energy reduction target through data-driven projects, continuous improvement, and operational optimization. The Energy Engineer acts as a technical bridge between site operations, corporate Net Zero strategy, and digital energy platforms, converting data into actionable energy reduction outcomes. This position is critical for achieving site and corporate Net Zero targets, sustaining year-over-year energy reduction, improving utility system reliability and performance, and translating energy data into financial and carbon benefits. The role will support Sanford and Rocky Mount, NC facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a master's degree with 0+ years of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in industrial energy management, utilities engineering, or facilities engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with energy performance analysis, metering, and data-driven optimization.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, steam, chilled water, compressed air, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP).
  • Ability to provide technical solutions for complex problems through equipment/process knowledge.
  • Familiarity with site Learning Management System and processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support development, execution, and annual refresh of site Net Zero Master Plans, including project identification, prioritization, and tracking against glidepaths and targets.
  • Translate Net Zero strategies into executable site-level projects aligned with utilities, HVAC, thermal systems, electrification, and infrastructure modernization.
  • Support governance, reporting, and cadence reviews associated with the Net Zero program lifecycle.
  • Deliver and support projects that contribute to the 3.5% annual energy reduction target, including low/no‑capital operational improvements and capital projects.
  • Identify and quantify energy conservation measures (ECMs) across utilities such as steam, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Track realized savings and support post‑implementation measurement & verification (M&V).
  • Serve as site technical owner or key user for Clockworks energy analytics.
  • Interpret Clockworks insights to identify system inefficiencies, control issues, and optimization opportunities.
  • Partner with maintenance and operations teams to translate Clockworks findings into corrective actions and sustained improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and validate Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs) in alignment with ISO 50001 principles and internal energy management standards.
  • Analyze energy intensity, normalization factors, and performance trends to identify efficiency opportunities and quantify savings.
  • Ensure data quality, baseline integrity, and traceability for energy performance reporting.
  • Partner with Facilities, Utilities, EHS, Maintenance, and Capital Project teams to embed energy efficiency into daily operations and project design.
  • Support site leadership with technical inputs, dashboards, and performance reviews related to energy and Net Zero progress.
  • Contribute to change management, training, and capability building related to energy awareness and system optimization.
  • Champion Cultural Transformation at site through newsletters, onsite workshops, and recognition program.
  • Collaborate with asset leads to develop net zero execution plan, track glidepath progress vs plan.
