Our marketing and apps team in Santa Clara (California, USA) is seeking an Application Engineer to join the team. What will you get out of it: We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to support our AIoT customers across security cameras, edge AI devices, and embedded smart products. This role focuses on customer-facing technical support, Linux-based SDK integration, AI deployment on edge devices, and cross-functional problem solving with SoC, firmware, image quality, and platform teams. You will be the primary technical interface to customers, enabling successful product design-in, debugging complex system issues, and ensuring timely production ramp. You will also work with the product team, function as the technical bridge between customers and internal engineering teams, ensuring customer feedback is clearly translated into actionable engineering inputs, while guiding customers toward stable, production-ready solutions.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in CS/EE or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in customer-facing roles such as SE, AE or FAE
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience with embedded systems in the semi-conductor industry.
  • 5+ years of Linux development experience
  • 5+ years C/C++ programming experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with video systems is highly preferable.
  • Experience in video technology, digital imaging, image signal processing is highly preferable.
  • Experience with computer vision, machine learning, Gen AI, LLMs, is a plus.
  • Experience in scripting languages (shell, Python) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of connectivity solutions (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.)
  • Program Management skills are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on pre-sales and post-sales technical support for AIoT customers in North America, with primary responsibility for customer issue investigation, reproduction, debugging, and resolution.
  • Collaborate directly with prospective customers and partners to understand system-level and software requirements, and guide them through the evaluation process, including component selection, Linux SDK integration, AI algorithms, and software architecture decisions.
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues in internal environments, analyze logs, traces, and system behavior, and work with internal engineering teams to identify root causes and drive issues to resolution.
  • Train customers on the effective use of Ambarella SoCs, reference designs, Linux SDKs, AI tools, and development/debug tools, including best practices for bring-up, performance tuning, and stability.
  • Own customer technical issues from initial report to closure: field questions, isolate problems, document findings, manage escalations, and function as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal core engineering teams.
  • Support marketing and business teams in new product developments by providing technical feasibility assessment, system validation, and customer use-case insights.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to marketing and business development teams.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and third-party solution providers to validate solutions, debug integration issues, and support proof-of-concept efforts as needed to enable customer success.
  • Manage and coordinate ongoing customer projects with the SDK team, field support team, and ODMs, tracking technical issues, risks, and resolution status.
  • Support the marketing team before and during trade shows.
  • Regional and international travel approximately 20–30%, primarily for on-site customer technical support, debugging, and workshops.
