About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Sr Analyst, People Analytics and Reporting is responsible for the intake, planning, communication, and oversight of complex projects utilizing HR data to provide HR and organizational leaders with the insight necessary to drive business decisions for a 43k employee Fortune 300 Company utilizing HRIS (Workday), Snowflake, and PowerBI reporting & analytics platforms. The Sr Analyst, People Analytics and Reporting serves as the teams project management function and leverages their organizational & analytical skills, knowledge of application tools, visualization techniques and best practices, and HR acumen to drive the development of ad hoc & live analytical solutions that meet the business requirements. The Sr Analyst, People Analytics and Reporting works closely with IT architecture and HR Center of Excellence teams as well as peer developers and database engineers to ensure product development meets design criteria and deployment timelines. The Sr Analyst, People Analytics and Reporting contributes to the overall improvement of People Data reporting by maintaining the data systems and implementing processes and initiatives that ultimately increase the effectiveness and integrity of data reporting and documentation. This role relies heavily on communication & analytical skills to evaluate complex information, formulate insights, and develop sound recommendations to support the management of human capital analytics through proper data management & storytelling. Anticipated workload for this role is: 30% Project calls covering intake with internal customers, reviewing progress and troubleshooting with developers, conducting routine update calls with customers, and training end-users to be successful with their tools. 30% Technical work including leading development of some projects, making data connections in Snowflake, building proof of concepts, development drafts, and production versions of dashboards and tools to support HR and Operational Teams in the understanding and performance of their organizations. 20% Analysis, Interpretation, and exposition of data presented through current and new dashboards and tools. 20% Support of our HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence with Ad Hoc requests. The ideal candidate for this role has been on a HR/People Analytics team(s) in increasing positions of responsibility for 5+ years. They are a communicator and people-person with a passion for data storytelling and finding the so-what. They are comfortable and tactful setting timelines and expectations with both peers and leaders and holding themselves and others to those expectations. They are equally a savvy, capable analyst who can code in SQL and JSON while also chewing bubblegum and walking. They enjoy being a senior-level individual contributor, while also having influence over peers and partners. They thrive in the uncertain, and have the confidence to align contrasting priorities towards a common goal. This role is remote, but candidate must be located in or relocate to the Phoenix, AZ area to attend occasional events with our data consumers at our Corporate Headquarters.

Requirements

  • Experience conducting project management of technical HR projects from initial intake and requirements definition to customer training and hand-off.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools like MSFT Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, Alteryx.
  • Experience reporting human capital information and familiar with HR metrics including turnover, time to hire, absenteeism, cost of attrition, etc.
  • Experience in workflow modeling, data modeling, process engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract data from large data warehouse (i.e., Snowflake or Azure) using SQL/SAS and/or Advanced Excel with Macros, Advanced Excel math Functions, Pivot tables, Pivot Charts and Excel dashboards for data analysis.
  • Experience in data storytelling to help leaders understand business problems with a people-focused lens.
  • Solid working knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business or technical analysis role
  • Experience with project management techniques (i.e. 3 years experience with Agile, experience using Agile software tools such as Monday, Rally or similar tools)

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with executive and operational management to conduct intake and ongoing project calls supporting the creation ofCOE-specific, exploratory, and Organizational Health Dashboards.
  • Uses agile software tools to track performance and creates logical software flow diagrams to solve complicated business processes.
  • Ensures Data Governance and Risk Management is always maintained with due regard to employee data security.
  • Responds to ad hoc and recurring data requests from Workday, Snowflake Data Repositories, or other data sources for employee lifecycle, process improvement, management inquiry, and legal purposes.
  • Standardizes, audits, queries, and cleanses system data and develops governance processes to maintain data cleanliness.
  • Compiles information into various formats from flat files to dashboards, may create executive briefings and present information to executive and operational leadership in written and verbal forms.
  • Owns reports requirements development (technical specifications and data mapping requirements), rationalization and prioritization in conjunction with business partners.
  • Defines and documents reporting metrics and how those metrics are calculated from source system data.
  • Analyzes source data systems for content, writes technical definition specifications, report layouts/mockups and test scripts.
  • Creates technical flow diagrams based on standards and process flow diagrams, wireframes and prototypes which are used to collaborate and guide development resources to rapidly develop integration assets.
  • Uses query languages like SQL to mine data, create reports and uses the latest technology to identify and analyze performance trends. This includes performance and forecast impact on future results. May also make recommendations on use of information to improve results, including recommendations on changes to business processes.
  • Constructs SQL queries in large-scale databases to provide research, audit and analysis of complex data needs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
