Your Team at Baxter: The Senior Procurement Analyst oversees procurement activities for Baxter, ensuring selected production materials and services meet competitive standards for cost, quality, and delivery. The role manages planning, scheduling, and inventory control for assigned materials, applying expertise in planning, inventory management, lean methodologies (e.g., Kanban), and ERP systems to support accurate and timely fulfillment of Baxter’s customer orders. This position requires strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills to proactively identify and resolve issues. The analyst also manages assigned commodities to reduce total cost of ownership, optimize inventory levels, and ensure on time delivery. The role is based at our Baxter manufacturing facility in Skaneateles Falls, near Syracuse, NY. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Technology, or related field required.
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience as a buyer/planner.
  • An understanding of MPS (Master Production Scheduling), MRP (Material Requirements Planning)/APS and CRP (Capacity Requirements Planning) logic.
  • Working knowledge of basic Inventory Control principles and techniques.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and effective communication to influence change, effective at communicating with both internal and external customers and at all levels of management
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software and fluent in English for both written and oral communication.
  • Strong personal skills to work with others under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Purchasing Manager, Procurement/Commodity Management, Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Production, Sales Coordinators, Quality Assurance, and other departments as necessary to maintain production efficiency and quality and comply with our ISO 9001 13485 Quality System standards.
  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with engineering to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Coordinate as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
  • Ensure that all materials are received in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on all purchase orders to ensure that scheduled delivery dates are met.
  • Review job shortages and respond in a timely manner to the production planners and Master schedulers on availability.
  • Evaluate purchasing elements (e.g. lead-time, safety stock, days’ supply) for purchase parts.
  • Propose operational changes to the Purchasing Manager to improve efficiency, eliminate wasteful processes and to reduce cost (e.g. methods of purchasing, ordering, forecast, etc.) through continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct meetings, prepare and present reports, and provide information to identify purchasing requirements, establish business plans and performance objectives, and report performance against plan and business objectives.
