The Sr. Analyst, Energy Asset Management and Origination will support the Energy Sourcing group and the Advanced Energy Solutions team in its strategic planning, execution, and management of power supply contracts to meet Rivian's energy business goals and drive greater and more cost-effective renewable energy adoption. You will also perform extensive analysis on power markets, support business operations, analyze regulatory environments, evaluate supply mixes, negotiate and support power contracting, and manage asset performance to ensure Rivian achieves the greatest potential grid-scale impact and meets its clean energy business commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, required. Preferred Master's Degree or relevant experience in business or finance experience across a variety of energy markets and energy transactions
  • High degree of professionalism and exceptional communication skills
  • Strong data management and data visualization skills and experience handling large and complex data sets and relevant tools
  • Experience managing renewable energy certificate (REC) transactions and REC tracking systems (1-2 years)
  • Experience or exposure to the execution and negotiation of power supply contracts or REC contracts (1-2 years)
  • Experience with corporate renewable procurement or equivalent skills in structuring, analyzing, and executing power purchase agreements, virtual power purchase agreements, or other energy supply contracts (1-3 years)
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy systems including renewable energy technologies and energy storage
  • Knowledge and experience analyzing energy market conditions with track record of identifying cost saving opportunities
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of energy regulations, with experience working with utilities and energy suppliers
  • Ability to transition across many regions and utility districts
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support Energy Sourcing and partners to manage and optimize Rivian's growing portfolio of renewable energy contracts across the areas of contract management, contract settlements, and REC tracking, and identify opportunities to improve value of existing contracts
  • Support Energy Sourcing and Purchasing teams to administer RFP/RFIs for renewable energy supply contracts, evaluate proposals, analyze potential partners, conduct diligence on energy supply proposals, select projects, negotiate, and execute innovative renewable energy supply contracts across Rivian's growing energy footprint of charging and operations
  • With exceptional professionalism, support deal origination and manage relationships with energy partners and utilities to drive more cost effective and greater access to renewable energy for all
  • Conduct rigorous analysis on power markets, individual deal opportunities, financial forecasting, and agreement structuring to enable Energy Sourcing to balance timing, risk, economics, and impact using Rivian's 3C methodology of maximizing benefits for climate, conservation and community
  • Manage data input and maintenance of systems and tools, including energy trading risk management system, deal pipeline, CRM, and others, and suggest and implement improvements to streamline those systems and tools
  • Create highly effective communication tools and work products to enable transparency and educate stakeholders on Rivian's renewable energy goals and progress
  • Proactively seek opportunities to reduce the cost of renewable energy sourcing deals for Rivian, partners, and customers
  • Support Advanced Energy Solutions by performing operational analytics and assisting in the overall business operations of business.
  • Support cross-functional teams in annual auditing and reporting tasks
  • Partner with Rivian's purchasing, engineering, and finance teams and other stakeholders
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
