About The Position

The Finance Data & AI Governance Lead will help General Motors unlock the full value of its Finance big data assets by serving as the business data steward for platforms that drive our Driver-based forecasting transformation, while leading the new Finance Data & AI Governance sustain team. You will sit at the intersection of data stewardship, transformation project management, and AI governance, ensuring that Finance big data assets are accurately defined, trusted, secure, and ready for advanced analytics and AI agents. You will own the stewardship for key Finance big data assets, operate within GM’s Enterprise Data Governance and Data & AI policies, and build a sustainable operating rhythm for data and AI governance across the Future of Finance transformation team. In this role, you will: Lead stewardship, project management, & governance for Finance big data assets. Stand up and manage the Finance Data & AI Governance sustain team, including routines, metrics, and playbooks. Partner with Finance, IT, Data Architecture, and transformation teams to govern Finance AI agents and Fin360 2.0 use cases. Define, document, and maintain data quality rules and thresholds (accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, validity) across key Finance datasets. Configure automated checks in data quality tooling and partner with data engineering to implement and monitor controls. Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance (CFP&A, SSM, Tax, MFG, GPSC, GPD), IT, Data Architecture, and Enterprise Data Governance to prioritize issues, plan enhancements, and manage trade-offs between speed, risk, and compliance. Prepare and present content for governance forums; summarizing decisions, documenting actions, and managing escalations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Science, or related business field with 4+ years of experience in data-focused roles
  • Experience in data governance/stewardship, master data management, business intelligence, and analytics-supporting data operations
  • Skilled in managing data quality for large, complex datasets with basic project management and foundational data engineering knowledge.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, teamwork, and stakeholder partnering skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data platforms or financial planning systems such as Databricks, OneStream, Atlan, or similar
  • Understanding of AI governance and Responsible AI concepts (risk classification, guardrails, monitoring, explainability, bias mitigation).
