About The Position

This is a full-time, remote position within the continental United States If you're an experienced accounting professional who goes beyond processing entries and takes true ownership of financial integrity, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, applying accounting principles to complex transactions, and strengthening the foundation of our accounting operations. In this role, you will partner closely with accounting leadership to manage core accounting functions while bringing a thoughtful, analytical approach to your work. You’ll be expected to interpret and apply accounting guidance, handle complex transactions, and ensure that financial data is not only accurate, but meaningful and actionable. Your contributions will directly support business decision-making, operational discipline, and continued organizational growth. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply accounting principles to real-world transactions beyond standard journal entry processing.
  • Experience working with complex accounting scenarios, including accruals, deferrals, amortizations, and other technical accounting areas.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to leverage tools for analysis and insight.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred; public accounting or audit experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or SAP, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Reconciling general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring all financial activity is properly recorded and supported.
  • Supporting and executing month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and detailed supporting schedules.
  • Analyzing and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions, including areas such as accruals, deferrals, amortizations, and reinsurance-related activity.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
  • Supporting external and internal audits by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
