About The Position

The Sr. Account Manager is responsible for leading Synergy’s sales activities within a territory and/or Key Accounts. The Sr. Account Manager will grow their business base by protecting existing business, expanding Synergy presence and generating new business opportunities. The Sr. Account Manager will develop a strategic approach to their territory and Key account including aggressive management of opportunities and risks and developing multi-level relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with an area of discipline preferred in marketing, biology, chemistry or food science
  • Seven to ten years of flavor ingredient sales experience calling on major food and beverage companies
  • Proven ability to sell ingredients to multiple buying influences
  • Significant understanding of, and contacts in, food and beverage markets and awareness of market and product trends
  • Must be able to establish priorities and determine validity of assignments and project work for potential new business
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Territory and Key Account plan for successful management of position and achievement of Budgeted financial objectives.
  • Coordinate company resources (technical, marketing, regulatory, etc.) to advance customer projects and requests in accordance with customer KPI’s.
  • Develop and manage annual budget and provide forecasts as required including territory/key account opportunities and risk analysis.
  • Lead price negotiations for customer volume contracts, annual price proposals and customer productivity demand initiatives.
  • Champion multi-level peer to peer customer relationships with targeted accounts to imbed Synergy presence within the account.
  • Provide timely territory and key account updates, actively utilize IT tools for Sales and provide other information as requested.
  • Develop new leads and nurture solid prospects to convert to Synergy customers.
  • Develop and implement personal professional development plan: targeting development of key customers, meeting established sales quotas, setting personal development goals
  • Participate in sales training, trade shows, industry functions and meetings as required
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the food industry including membership of an industry organization in territory to understand the competitive environment, facilitate business development efforts and provide the Company information of changes and developments in the market.
  • Engage annually in an internal team initiative or project for continuous improvement of Synergy.
