About The Position

Our Client, a global leader in delivering diverse Technologies is seeking a SQL Server Data Engineer to maintain and enhance a legacy, stored-procedure-centric OPMS application environment without heavy use of modern ORMs. This is a Hybrid role with the ability to work onsite 3-days per week in Albuquerque, NM. Core Mission of the Role: - Maintain and enhance a legacy, stored-procedure-centric OPMS application environment without heavy use of modern ORMs. ((Object-Relational Mappers) need to be able to writing raw SQL queries) - Ensure performant, reliable data operations including SQL tuning, stored procedure development, and SSRS reporting. - Translate stakeholder and client requirements into actionable technical tasks; handle triaged tickets and support multi-module database design/implementation. - Serve as a steady, senior presence capable of thriving in legacy tech with a measured learning curve.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years hands-on SQL Server in production environments with heavy stored procedure usage.
  • Demonstrated success in query tuning and performance optimization for large databases.
  • Solid SSRS development lifecycle experience.
  • T-SQL proficiency (queries, stored procedures, functions)
  • Query tuning and performance optimization (indexes, execution plans)
  • Demonstrated success in legacy, stored-procedure-centric systems
  • Pragmatic approach to enhancement vs. rebuild; comfort without modern ORMs
  • Ability to learn nuanced legacy domain quickly
  • Has an independence and consulting mindset

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, refactor, and optimize T-SQL codebase (queries, stored procedures, functions) across OBMS modules.
  • Perform query tuning, indexing, and performance diagnostics for large/complex databases.
  • Design, develop, and deploy SSRS reports; ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues; document processes and provide user support for reporting tools.
  • Partner with internal client managers, operations, and finance to capture requirements and convert to technical solutions.
  • Work tickets triaged by lead; manage priorities and communicate status/risks clearly.
  • Contribute to database design patterns for new/enhanced modules; support ETL/data integration where applicable.
  • Document changes, follow change management, and uphold best practices for legacy environments.
