About The Position

The SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, security, and performance optimization of mission-critical SQL Server databases supporting government programs and enterprise applications. This role ensures data integrity, high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance with relevant standards. Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in SQL database administration supporting and managing databases in a production environment.
  • Five years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurations.
  • Five years of experience with T-SQL and ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance functions.
  • Three years of experience serving as a team leader working as both part of a team and independently to assign/review immediate tasks, set priorities, maintain task progress, validate team members’ work consistent with the organizational goals and deadlines.
  • Three years of experience mentoring junior personnel on proper practices and procedures.
  • Three years of experience planning and implementing security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure in accordance with industry best practices and DISA STIGs.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with SBI and ability to attain SI, TK, G, HCS, and NATO Secret clearance.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MSCA) or SQL Server 2016 or SQL Database Administration Certification; DoD 8140.03 IAT Level II/Intermediate certification
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain high-availability SQL Server databases.
  • Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and patches.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance.
  • Develop and execute backup and recovery procedures.
  • Enforce security, compliance, and access controls.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
  • Support data migration, replication, and integration.
  • Automate maintenance tasks via scripting.
  • Document key database configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams.
  • Mentor junior DBA staff.
  • Participate in security audits and compliance reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
