The Spurs Sports Academy Program Coordinator supports the planning, delivery, and daily execution of all Spurs Sports & Entertainment youth sports initiatives. The role works across departments to ensure seamless program operations and strong participant experiences while expanding access to high-quality programming for youth of all backgrounds and abilities. Reporting to the Manager Community Sports, the coordinator assists in implementing program plans that elevate player development, grow participation, and support the introduction of new and expanded program offerings. The position also supports coaches and staff, strengthens operational and administrative systems, and contributes to an inclusive environment aligned with the organization’s commitment to youth development, community engagement, and building the next generation of Spurs fans.

Requirements

  • Experience in youth sports, program coordination, recreation, education, or event operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and perform effectively in fast-paced program environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort using scheduling, communication, and project management platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail and a service-oriented, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during camps, clinics, and special events.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs during event setup and breakdown.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to meetings or program locations across local, regional, and international markets.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including gyms, outdoor courts, and community spaces, which may involve varying noise levels and weather conditions.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program schedules.
  • demonstrate alignment with SS&E’s core values and mission, collaborate with internal/external community members and demonstrate ongoing development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and execute youth sports programs, including camps, clinics, leagues, girls' programming, inclusive sports, and community events; oversee on-site logistics such as setup, check-in flow, equipment layout, and teardown to deliver safe and high-quality participant experiences.
  • Support player development curriculum using evaluations and program data to improve drills, teaching materials, and coaching standards that promote consistent skill progression across all program types.
  • Support coach and staff operations through onboarding, scheduling, training coordination, and on-site guidance to ensure alignment with safety procedures and risk-management protocols, youth development practices, and organizational values.
  • Manage operational and administrative functions by maintaining registration systems, rosters, and documentation; coordinating equipment and inventory needs; assisting with purchasing and budget tasks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring clear communication, smooth check-in processes, issue resolution, and a welcoming experience for participants and guests.
  • Collaborate with Brand Engagement to share program updates, identify storytelling opportunities, support on-site activations, and manage Workfront submissions to enhance program visibility and partner initiatives.
  • Collect, maintain, and report program data through tracking tools to measure engagement, participation, community reach, revenue impact, and operational outcomes, supporting program evaluation and organizational decision-making.
  • Support partner and sponsor deliverables, including Jr. NBA, NBA Cares, and community partners, ensuring accurate coordination of program elements, signage, benefits, product distribution, and reporting needs.
