Requirements

  • Fire Protection Engineering Technology Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology plus 6 months of experience as a Sprinkler Designer or a related occupation

Responsibilities

  • Design the following 2D and 3D Fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, all applicable NFPA standards and local codes: new construction, mixed use buildings, standpipe systems, fire pumps.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system design using 3D modeling in new and existing structures with architects and other MEP trades.
  • Assist design trainees with field surveys to verify existing conditions, and perform field surveys throughout construction to ensure accurate installation of projects.
  • Prepare shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material submittals for review by Architects, Engineers and Authority Having Jurisdiction.
  • Compile stock lists and material requisitions for the installation of Fire Sprinkler systems along with installation prints.
