About The Position

Eaton’s Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Spring/Lap Room Technician for its Support Team. This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility and supports the manufacturing of springs and lapping of parts which will later be assembled into aerospace products within the Space, Life Support and Actuation programs. Technicians are responsible for performing routine maintenance, collaborating with team members, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing OR military experience
  • Minimum 1 year of machine shop equipment/precision measurement tool experience.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Nice To Haves

  • Certification and Associantes Degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of machinist experience
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Prior Inspection experience with drawing interpretation and surface finishes.
  • Basic understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, Cellular Manufacturing, One Piece Flow, and Continuous Improvement concepts

Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding of work instructions and mechanical blueprints. Detailed drawing knowledge including surface finishes and special processes.
  • Set-up, operate and troubleshoot machines including but not limited to lapping/polishing, spring winding, and heat treat oven. Manual/machine spring winding.
  • Ability to work on complex projects and/or products with minimal direction and knowledge to involve required support from Engineering or Supervision.
  • Record daily logs and properly manage the traceability of numerous components to ensure assembly accuracy.
  • Verify calibrated equipment and material are up to date for production use.
  • Partner with engineering to identify improvement opportunities and assist the production supervisor in training, developing and mentoring lower-level technicians.
  • Respirator tested and trained in compliance with site guidelines. Responsible for ensuring that compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards are met. Respirator trained.
  • Obtain and maintain Certified Operator Status and may be required to support varies production cells.
