About The Position

Sprag Cell Operator will cut sprag stock to specified lengths, tumble & visually inspect sprags. The operator will prepare the sprags for the next operation. Cell Operators will perform all tasks included from the Sprag Grind Classification.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Good communication skills and teamwork are essential
  • Proficient blueprint reading skills
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics and tolerances
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Use of material handling devices
  • Must be able to sit / stand for long periods of time as necessary in the work area

Responsibilities

  • Follow the standard work as prescribed for the Sprag Cell.
  • Set-up, operate, and change-over sprag saws.
  • Set-up, operate, and adjust machine offsets
  • Monitor machinery and perform in-process quality checks (Mics, Depth gage, Indicators, Digital mics, & Optical Comparator)
  • Must be able to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on machines.
  • Determine and report malfunctions to appropriate parties
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned area (6S)
  • Tumble and dry the sprags per routings
  • Visually inspect each sprag for pitting and other visual defects.
  • Prepare sprags for Heat Treat.
  • Utilize blueprints and adhere to all work instructions to accurately produce sprags using various measuring tools.
  • Change tumble media & compound as required.
  • Complete daily/weekly operator-level maintenance of the Saw & Sort equipment.
  • Documentation of in-spec & scrap pieces.
  • Complete quality documentation as necessary.
