About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Operate resistance spot welding equipment to produce welded assemblies in accordance with Wayne Metals and customer specifications. Responsible for running assigned production jobs, performing required quality checks, accurately reporting production activity, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in resistance spot welding or metal fabrication preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic including measurements and counting.
  • Ability to recognize visible weld defects.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to follow standardized work procedures.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to lift materials up to 40 lbs as required and stand for extended periods.
  • Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs and procedures.
  • Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.

  • Prior experience in resistance spot welding or metal fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate resistance spot welding machines and related equipment on jobs for which training has been completed.
  • Load and position parts into fixtures and activate weld cycles according to standardized work instructions.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections as required to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Visually inspect welds for proper appearance and identify obvious defects such as expulsion, burn-through, weak welds, or cosmetic concerns.
  • Notify supervision of weld quality issues, equipment malfunctions, or parameter concerns. Do not modify machine settings unless authorized.
  • Accurately record production counts, scrap, downtime, and labor entries through the Visual Manufacturing System.
  • Meet established production efficiency and quality standards.
  • Comply with all Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, including defect prevention and waste reduction practices.
  • Remove all old tags, move tickets, and part identification from containers prior to use to prevent product mix-ups.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area in accordance with company safety standards.
