About The Position

Welder - Production Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) has an exciting opportunity for a Welder – Production to join our team in Seattle, WA . The ideal candidate will support test fabrication in the Puget Sound area and must be capable of traveling to multiple sites between Seattle, Everett and Tukwila. Position Responsibilities: Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) per Boeing’s applicable Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) Make adjustments during the process of the weld to compensate for variations in thickness, mismatch, gap, equipment anomalies, assembly fit-up, etc Perform brazing, sil-brazing, oxy-fuel cutting, plasma arc cutting, carbon arc gouging, flame straightening, and flame bending When a WPS is not required, select electrodes, gas cups, filler metal, weld current, arc voltage travel speed, gas flow, wire size and feed rate per the weld schedule or other furnished information Measure, layout, set and align. In preparation for or after welding, operate saws, disk grinders, drill presses, and other associated shop equipment to accomplish assigned work Work in conformance with drawings, specifications, and verbal or written instructions, trade practices, and applicable codes Must be able to work in all positions and at heights and follow all safety processes as defined Fabricate shop aids and holding devices to facilitate work assignment set up and align work in welding fixtures and block/clamp/secure parts as necessary. Maintain cleanliness of welding equipment and general weld area Request repairs when and as required to maintain welding equipment in optimum operating condition Organize and maintain welding supplies Prepare lists for requisition of welding supplies, equipment and material as required Move, lift and/or turn materials or weld structures as required, utilizing various types of shop lifting equipment Assist in the identification and documentation of best practices, process standardization and improvement activities associated with pressure piping and structural welding Perform work described in other maintenance classifications when incidental but necessary to the accomplishment of a welding assignment

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience with welding
  • 3+ years’ experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • 3+ years’ experience with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

Nice To Haves

  • Possess an active WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials) Card
  • 3+ years’ experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • 3+ years’ experience welding/cutting operations on steel/aluminum and various other metals all types of metals
