mTrade Park-Sports Turf Specialist
About The Position
The Sports Turf Specialist will be a member of a highly talented team that makes up part of the turf management staff for mTrade Park. He/she will be directly involved in the day-to-day field, grounds and park maintenance. The Sports Turf Specialist will perform all duties required to maintain a sand base and native soil Bermuda grass fields on all ball fields as well as synthetic turf maintenance. The Sports Turf Specialist will report directly to the Sports Turf Manager/Associate Turf Grass Manager. Other duties include preparing the infield skin, mound area, plate area, sod work, fertilizing, weed and disease control, aerating, topdressing, mowing, edging, irrigation, pregame field prep, tarp handling, restrooms cleaning and field set up.
Requirements
- Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license.
- At least 2-3 years of turf management experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to conduct his/herself in a professional manner
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and skills.
- Must be enthusiastic, willing, and able to learn quickly.
- Work autonomously when necessary
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions
- Deal with others in a professional manner
- Maintain professional composure in heated situations
- Implement and follow departmental and City policies and procedures
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled/manual work functions related to the maintenance and operation of athletic fields.
- Responsible for maintenance of all high-quality equipment in order to extend the useful life to minimize repair and replacement cost.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of the playing fields.
- Knowledge of proper water management.
- Knowledge of proper seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering, and pest and weed control.
- Open and close, locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
- Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various functions and programs.
- Keep records of work completed.
- Collect and dispose of solid waste from buildings and grounds; pick up litter from premises.
- Available to work a full schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
- Assist in keeping maintenance shop area clean and organized at all times.
- Maintain buildings and grounds of mTrade park
- Empty all garbage cans daily and take out trash
- Sweep/mop restrooms as needed.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms daily
- Perform other duties as required.
