Apply foundational knowledge in sports performance to assess, motivate, educate, and train clients for the primary goal of improving sport performance consistent with the NSCA professional standards and guidelines. Conduct general physical and sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective sports performance programs, and consult with and refer to appropriate sports medicine and performance professionals when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Exercise Science or related field (Required)
  • 3 Years of sports performance experience.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work irregular hours
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including but not limited to, athletes, coaches, administrative staff, physicians, volunteers and other medical personnel.
  • BLS
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Nice To Haves

  • Master's- Preferred Master's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, physical education, health sciences, strength training, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in retail sports performance
  • Certified through the United States Weightlifting Association (USAW) as a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach
  • Experience in the management and utilization of internal and external load
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Apply foundational knowledge in sports performance to assess, motivate, educate, and train clients for the primary goal of improving sport performance consistent with the NSCA professional standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct general physical and sport-specific testing sessions
  • Design and implement safe and effective sports performance programs
  • Consult with and refer to appropriate sports medicine and performance professionals when appropriate.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist for Fort Lewis College athletics.
  • Lead and oversee the brand new, 10,000 square foot Performance Center, which includes Sorinex racks, State-of-the-Art cardio equipment, HyperIce recovery modalities, technology, and a stocked re-fuelling station.
  • Candidates should have experience leading interns and graduate Assistants, and excellent communication with coaches.
  • Position collaborates with Athletic Training staff for return to play protocols after injury and post-surgery with a strong focus on holistic athlete development.
