Iowa State University has an opening for a Sports Dietitian I position in Athletics. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Must have and maintain licensure as a Licensed Dietitian in the State of Iowa.
  • The successful candidate must have knowledge base of sport nutrition curriculum; possess strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and help write effective educational materials and presentations; be highly organized; and maintain confidentiality.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
  • This is an in-person/on-sight position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing nutrition services to intercollegiate or professional athletes.
  • Experience identifying or working with eating disorders.
  • Experience in food service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidenced-based nutrition services via individualized and team assessment, counseling, and support.
  • Deliver nutrition education to individuals, teams, recruits and coaches through a variety of methods.
  • Collect, organize and present data in a way that is useful, collaborate and enhances sports performance decision making: perform DEXA body composition assessments, conduct hydration and/or sweat rate testing, and more as assigned.
  • Assist with planning team meals and fueling for away competitions.
  • Collaborate with on-site culinary team and off-site food vendors to support execution of fueling service needs.
  • Assist with procurement, inventory management, and food safety standards for assigned sport.
  • Collaborate on strategies and needs to enhance player performance.
  • Assist with managing student-workers/interns.
  • Assist with identifying disordered eating and referring student to appropriate resources.
  • Perform all duties in adherence with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.
  • Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.
  • Requires the ability to work outside normal business hours with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends and overnight travel with the team.
