About The Position

This seasonal position directs the recreational activities for children in grades 4 - 8. The camp runs for six weeks in the summer (June 15 to July 24), Monday – Friday from 9:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Mt. Lebanon Park. Some activities are basketball, broomball, paddle tennis, table games, flag football, kickball, ultimate frisbee and soccer. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Summer Sports Camp Supervisor.
Applicants for sports camp counselor must be at least 16 years of age.

Requirements

• Clear understanding of recreational department activities and procedures.
• Interpersonal skills
• Display a knowledge of Basic First-Aid
• Maintains regular and punctual attendance
• Experience organizing youth activities is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• CPR/AED and First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with Summer Sports Camp Supervisor and other camp counselors during In-Service training to develop a list of fun sports activities for the children to play.
• Supervises children in daily sports and games activities.
• Performs all other work assigned.
