About The Position

This role supports teams, faculty, and staff in developing and preparing research grant proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and agreements. This includes interpreting funding guidelines, preparing budgets, compiling application components, documenting processes, and submitting to sponsors. The position also involves analyzing and evaluating contract and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories, considering sponsor requirements, and partnering with divisions to ensure budget feasibility and capture all research expenses. Furthermore, the role reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and institutional policies, ensures accurate entry into ePAS, and analyzes awarded proposals for compliance with various requirements. The specialist will effectively manage a portfolio of divisions, maintain strong working relationships with divisions, faculty, and other key stakeholders, and respond to requests quickly and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Supports team, faculty and staff in the development and preparation of research grant proposals, contracts, subcontracts, and agreements; to include interpretation of funding guidelines and sponsor requirements, budget preparation, compilation of application components, process documentation, and submission to sponsor.
  • Analyzes and evaluates contract and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories, such as salaries, percent effort, fringe benefits, materials and supplies, travel, equipment, and indirect costs.
  • Considers sponsor requirements for budgeting related to allowed costs, salary cap, cost share, and indirect rate.
  • Partner with divisions to ensure feasibility and that budgets capture all related research expenses as deemed appropriate by Sponsor.
  • Review proposals for compliance with sponsor and institutional policies, adherence to SOPs, accuracy, and conformity with program guidelines.
  • Ensure proposals are entered into ePAS accurately.
  • Analyzes and evaluates awarded proposals, contracts and subcontracts for compliance with funding agency, federal, state, and Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) requirements.
  • Effectively manage a portfolio of divisions.
  • Actively manage strong working relationships with divisions, faculty, and other key stakeholders.
  • Respond to requests quickly and effectively.
  • Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meet them.
  • Centralized support for multiple divisions; review and submit 0-175 funding proposals per year.
