About The Position

Dock hand is responsible for assisting the marina team in order to serve marina customers and guests by performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to; providing prompt and courteous customer service, safe fueling of vessels, providing docking assistance, and general marina operations. Must have strong communication skills, excellent customer service, ability to quickly learn new skills, and the availability to work weekends and holidays. The position is at a seasonal marina open May 1 through October 31. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Take transient reservations by phone and online form (Dockwa) Answer phone calls and VHF radio with the appropriate greeting in a professional and timely manner. Dispense gasoline and diesel fuel and operate pump out system. Direct vessels to slips, assist with tying up and hooking up of utilities. Monitor vessels in marina for safe and proper tie-up and utility connection. Report safety, security, maintenance, and liability concerns to Marina Manager as soon as possible. These include but are not limited to lighting issues, gate and camera failures, trip hazards, fire hazards, and oil/fuel spills. Partner with repairs and maintenance workers to repair and maintain docks Maintain marina in a clean, neat, and safe manner. Assist with implementation of special events. Utilize computer system for reservations, sales, weather updates, and basic accounting reports. Use point of sale system to complete sales; perform mathematical calculations and closing out register and balancing at the end of the shift. Communicate directions clearly and effectively on the VHF radio. Report all unauthorized use of docks to Marina Manager for action. Perform all other duties as assigned by management. Be fully aware of and comply with Resorts policies and procedures as identified in the procedure manual and handbook. Make customers feel important, valued and appreciated in a manner that will be acknowledged by the customers. Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Outside marina. Associates may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Noise level in work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Exposed to moving mechanical parts Exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach, clime stairs, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and swim. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Requirements

Strong communication skills required.
Ability to swim in case of emergency or accident.
Ability to ride a bicycle.
Able to move around the area, navigating over unleveled ground, off and on docks and on all building levels.
Available to work days, evenings (typically until sunset), weekends, holidays and extended hours as business dictates.
Must be at least 16 years of age

Nice To Haves

Boaters license preferred.
Boat handling and knowledge of nautical terminology preferred.
