About The Position

At Powerback, we are dedicated to improving lives through physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapies. We serve older adults in skilled nursing centers, assisted and independent living facilities, outpatient clinics, and home-based care, helping them stay active and thrive. Additionally, we provide essential therapy for children at home and in school. With over 38 years of service, Powerback delivers personalized care where and when it's needed most. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be instrumental in helping patients regain their communication and swallowing abilities, working to diminish or remediate disorders and deficits. This involves taking responsibility for the effective delivery of rehabilitation services, designing and executing patient-specific plans to restore, reinforce, and enhance speech and communication. The role requires an adaptable individual who can address the whole patient, collaborate with peers, make necessary referrals, and educate patients and caregivers to promote independence and productivity.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders or similarly-titled area that is consistent and acceptable to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or be eligible to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow
  • Licensed, certified or credentialed, as required in the state of practice

Responsibilities

  • Help patients communicate, swallow, and work to diminish or remediate disorders or deficits
  • Take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services
  • Design the plan and work with patients to execute those plans
  • Address the whole patient and see them as an individual
  • Design a program that will restore, reinforce, and enhance their speech and communication abilities
  • Adapt to the needs of the patient
  • Thrive in a setting that keeps you moving through your day, from cleaning equipment to reporting to meetings
  • Collaborate with peers
  • Make referrals to help patients get the care they need to thrive
  • Train patients and caregivers on the skills they need to promote independence and productivity
