About The Position

The speech therapist's responsibilities performs patient assessments, develops individual treatment plans, is a liaison with teachers, family members, and other healthcare professionals, administering therapy and monitoring progress, and ensuring patients and their families are informed of new treatments and therapy techniques.

Requirements

Master's degree in speech therapy or speech-language pathology.
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Current Florida Speech Therapy License
Valid CPR Certification
Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software, database software and general knowledge of e-mail.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, with a physician’s order, the patient to determine the type of speech or language disorder and appropriate corrective therapy.
Provide rehabilitation therapies for speech and language disorders.
Maintain a record of services provided in the patient’s clinical record.
Report to the physician patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient condition or deviations in the plan of care.
Instruct other home health team personnel and caregivers in the methods of assisting patient for improvement in speech disorders.
Attend weekly Case Conferences.
Participate in any QA programs as needed.
Conduct themselves in a professional manner whenever representing the agency.
Follows all Avow policies and procedures, the compliance program and will maintain the privacy of patients protected health information.
All other duties as assigned.
