About The Position

The speech therapist's responsibilities performs patient assessments, develops individual treatment plans, is a liaison with teachers, family members, and other healthcare professionals, administering therapy and monitoring progress, and ensuring patients and their families are informed of new treatments and therapy techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in speech therapy or speech-language pathology.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Current Florida Speech Therapy License
  • Valid CPR Certification
  • Knowledge of basic typing skills, data entry and word processing software, database software and general knowledge of e-mail.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, with a physician’s order, the patient to determine the type of speech or language disorder and appropriate corrective therapy.
  • Provide rehabilitation therapies for speech and language disorders.
  • Maintain a record of services provided in the patient’s clinical record.
  • Report to the physician patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient condition or deviations in the plan of care.
  • Instruct other home health team personnel and caregivers in the methods of assisting patient for improvement in speech disorders.
  • Attend weekly Case Conferences.
  • Participate in any QA programs as needed.
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner whenever representing the agency.
  • Follows all Avow policies and procedures, the compliance program and will maintain the privacy of patients protected health information.
  • All other duties as assigned.
