About The Position

Mozaic ( A Chapter of The Arc NY) is looking for a Speech Pathologist to help people with disabilities improve or manage their speech and communication skills. The role involves doing assessments and providing therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities. The goal is to help them live in the least restrictive settings, such as their home or day programs, especially in places where these services are not easily available. The Speech Pathologist delivers tailored speech and language services to individuals, both one-on-one and in group settings, based on their unique needs. Services may include language development, interpretive assistance, and comprehensive speech and language therapy. In collaboration with families and caregivers, the Speech Pathologist supports treatment strategies that help individuals remain successfully in their homes or care placements. They play a key role in advocating for individuals' rights and needs, participating in treatment reviews when appropriate, and serving as a communication link between individuals, families, day programs, residences, and other agencies to ensure coordinated care. The Speech Pathologist also trains agency staff in speech and language strategies and provides guidance on integrating communication-focused techniques into daily routines to support long-term outcomes.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Speech and Language with New York State licensure.
  • Experience with developmentally disabled preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped by NYS Education Department is preferred.
