About The Position

MPF Federal is seeking a qualified Speech Pathologist – On-Call to provide speech-language pathology services at Travis Air Force Base (AFB), CA. Services will be performed onsite at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). The On-Call Speech Pathologist will provide comprehensive, evidence-based speech and language pathology services in support of patient care and mission readiness. This position is designated as Mission Essential and will provide coverage for the civilian Speech-Language Pathologist during approved leave periods. Work Schedule & Coverage Location of Performance: Travis AFB, CA (Onsite) On-Call Coverage Requirement: Approximately 60 days per calendar year Coverage provided when the assigned civilian Speech-Language Pathologist is on approved leave Duty Hours During On-Call Periods: Monday through Friday during normal duty hours No weekend coverage required No coverage required on federal holidays or down days Response Requirement: When on call, the Speech Pathologist must provide a treatment plan to the consulting team(s) within 24 hours of receipt of consultation.

Requirements

  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States
  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders
  • Graduate of a college or university accredited by a regional accreditation organization
  • Completion of at least 18 semester hours in speech pathology
  • Academic program must be accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Must meet clinical competency requirements as specified in service-specific credentialing instructions
  • Minimum of 12 months of hands-on patient care experience as a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist within the past 24 months
  • Experience in inpatient and/or outpatient clinical settings
  • Demonstrated experience performing speech and swallowing evaluations and providing treatment within scope of practice
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Speech Pathologist
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
  • Proficiency in speech and swallowing evaluation techniques
  • Ability to work independently and respond promptly to consultations
  • Effective interdisciplinary communication skills
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality patient care
  • Ability to develop and communicate timely treatment plans
  • Maintain compliance with MTF policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Participate in credentialing and privileging processes as required
  • Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives as applicable
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards consistent with ASHA and DoD guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Develop coherent and evidence-based treatment strategies
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and evaluations
  • Perform speech and swallowing evaluations in accordance with established procedures and protocols
  • Provide treatment interventions and clinical consultation to other healthcare professionals
  • Deliver prevention, screening, assessment, diagnostic, treatment, intervention, management, counseling, and follow-up services for disorders of speech and language
  • Address disorders involving comprehension and expression in oral, written, graphic, and manual modalities
  • Manage patients with communication and swallowing disorders affecting upper aero-digestive functions
  • Utilize specialized instrumentation including: Videofluoroscopy, Nasendoscopy, Stroboscopy, Computer technology for data collection and measurement
  • Observe, collect data, and measure communication and swallowing parameters in accordance with evidence-based practice standards
  • Communicate treatment plans to consulting teams within 24 hours when on call
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Provide professional consultation to physicians, nurses, and allied health staff
  • Incorporate new clinical procedures as appropriate to independently perform required services
  • Maintain clinical competence consistent with credentialing requirements
  • Comply with MTF policies, procedures, and evidence-based clinical standards
