About The Position

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for a benefits-eligible, full-time position to oversee the operation of audiological services within the University of Washington Speech and Hearing Clinic. This position can accommodate flexibility in hours/FTE; applicants interested in full-time or 80% effort (.8 FTE) arrangements are encouraged to apply. University of Washington’s Speech and Hearing Clinic faculty and graduate clinicians have been helping people with hearing loss reconnect to the world by providing person-centered/family-centered, culturally sensitive, unbiased, holistic, and evidence-based audiological services to the greater Seattle community for over 50 years. By providing leadership to the clinical services in audiology offered by the Speech and Hearing Clinic, this position contributes to the growth of audiological services at the University of Washington and contributes to the educational and research missions of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences. This position will lead and shape a dynamic, patient-centered clinic. Candidates with demonstrated clinical excellence in audiology and the potential to develop and manage a productive clinical team are especially encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Washington State licensure for Audiology.
  • Persons legally authorized to work in the U.S. under federal law, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients, are eligible for employment unless prohibited by other state or federal law.

  • Previous clinical supervision experience.
  • Eager to shape the next generation of clinical services (such as, but not limited to, tinnitus evaluation and management, auditory processing evaluation, hearing conservation, telehealth) to serve the community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the management of a complex patient caseload, including planning, evaluating, and treating patients with diverse audiological needs, providing occupational audiology services, and providing effective clinical supervision to graduate student clinicians (e.g., externs) (75% of time).
  • Provides leadership for audiological services within the University of Washington Speech and Hearing Clinic, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care and services, and sustaining a productive audiology externship program (5% of time).
  • Monitors and manages the financial portfolio of audiological services within the UW Speech and Hearing Clinic, optimizing revenue generation and cost-effectiveness (10% of time).
  • Coordinates with other program directors and research investigators regarding the integration of educational and research activities into clinical operations (5% of time).
  • Leads outreach initiatives and implements strategies to increase accessibility of audiological services (5% of time).
