JOB SUMMARY Under the general supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist or Program Specialist, the Speech and Language Pathology Assistant will perform services and consultation with teachers at a school site, provide activities designed to develop language skills and articulation skills, including speech production, vocalization and social pragmatics in students with speech/language disorders. Other duties may include administrative work, meetings, and collaborations with staff and parents.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree and completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program
• Registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the State of California
• 1+ year working with students with special needs in an educational setting
• Valid California Driver’s License
• Clear the Department of Justice background screening.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Provide health (TB) clearance (renewed every four years).

Responsibilities

• Conduct speech-language screenings using a variety of screening tools and techniques
• Follow documented therapy plans
• Support the SLP with contacting families to arrange IEP meetings.
• Document student progress in IEP system
• Prepare therapy materials for use in pullout small group setting or in classroom setting
• Adapt or modify instructional materials as determined by student need and abilities for teacher-use in the classroom
• Consult with general ed teachers to co-plan instructional materials or implement strategies
• Track performance data using progress monitoring tools and report progress on IEP goals
• Assist with IEP progress monitoring under the supervision of the SLP.
• Creates and maintains safe, positive environment for students
• Collaborates with members of IEP Team, Special Education team and School site teams
• Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned
• Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
• Comfortable with utilization of technology in a remote environment.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
