About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathology - Assistant supports licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in delivering high quality speech-language services to clients of all ages. This position implements therapy plans, assists with screenings, and supports documentation and client communication under the supervision of a SLP. Ensures services meet organizational guidelines, funder requirements and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Must have associate's degree from SLPA program or bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders with ASHA required coursework and clinical hours.
  • Completion of ASHA's SLPA certification or eligibility to obtain it required.
  • Knowledge of speech-language development across a variety of age groups.
  • Understanding of ethical standards and scope of practice for SLPAs.
  • Ability to follow and implement treatment plans and therapy protocols established by the supervising SLP.
  • Accurately record session data and document client performance.
  • Demonstrates professional communication skills. Provides clear, non-clinical updates while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • This position requires driving personal vehicle to travel locally to partner sites.
  • Must have reliable vehicle and maintain current driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Must complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications.
  • Must maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Implements prescribed speech-language intervention activities adhering to established treatment plans and supervision requirements.
  • Documents client performance, session data, and progress notes. Follows documentation protocols and accurately records session data and client performance to support progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Prepares therapy materials and maintains organized therapy environments.
  • Organizes and manages therapy resources and ensures treatment spaces remain safe, orderly, and well-equipped.
  • Assists with speech-language screenings as directed by the SLP. Administers assigned screening procedures in accordance with standardized protocols and submits results for SLP interpretation.
  • Delivers clear and professional communication to clients and families regarding session logistics and general updates.
  • Collects data to support program evaluation and service improvement initiatives. Gathers and organizes data in alignment with evaluation protocols and agency requirements.
  • Participates in professional collaboration and development opportunities. Engages in team meetings, trainings, and continuing education to support coordinated service delivery and ongoing professional growth.
