About The Position

The Speech Pathologist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat children with speech or language disorders, formulate individualized treatment plans, keep appropriate records, and inform faculty and parents about child's progress.

Requirements

Hearing ability sufficient to evaluate student's speech.
Be prepared and on-time for all therapy sessions and meetings.
Skill communicating verbally and in writing with students, faculty members, and parents so that all parties understand the program and the degree of progress being made.
Master's degree in speech pathology required.
PA State license as a speech pathologist required.
Certificate of Clinical Compliance (CCC) required.
Proof of Professional Liability Insurance Policy in accordance with company policy.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of two years of experience working in a pediatric setting in the speech pathology field preferred.
Familiarity and competence using pediatric assessments (ex: Goldman-Fristoe, Preschool Language Scale)

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations on children and adolescents. Analyze, interpret, and document evaluation results.
Develop patient care plan with short and long-term goals.
Maintain all records in compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and job responsibilities.
Plan and provide individual and/or group therapy according to individual needs and goals.
Perform routine documentation of client performance, adjusting goals and treatment as needed, and determine discharge care plans as appropriate.
Provide family education and training to assist in carryover of skills into a client’s daily living environment.
Communicate with other professionals such as physicians, psychologists, social workers, behavior therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and recreation therapists, with signed release of information.
Collaborate with other team members in a therapy session, as appropriate.
Make appropriate referrals for additional services such as psychiatry, psychology, dentistry, audiology, behavior therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and educational therapy.
Maintain compliance with state and federal policies, Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology, and ASHA.
Participate in in-services and/or parent education training programs, as appropriate.
Reports progress to parents and meets with them regularly. Suggests activities parents can do with their child to assist and supplement the student's speech therapy program. Attempts to add to their understanding of the program and answers questions and addresses concerns they may have about it.
Repeats evaluations on a regular basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines.
Talks with students to determine their feelings about the program and their progress or any frustrations they may feel about the therapy.
Keeps current with professional literature and attends seminars on a regular basis to maintain and update professional skills.
