Ponca City Public Schools Job Description Speech Pathologist Salary: $55,000+15%+Benefits Reports to: Building Principal, Director of Special Services Supervises: Assigned Speech Language Pathologist Assistants Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate – Speech Pathologist Job Goal: The Speech Language Pathologist will implement instructional strategies to general and special education students with language handicaps, articulation deficits, dysfluencies and voice disorders to support academic success. Employment Terms: 10 month Contract Generally - 7 Hour 20 Minute Day, Exclusive of a (30) Minute Duty Free Lunch FLSA Classification: Exempt Evaluation: Annually by Site Principal Physical Demands: This is an overview intended for compliance with the ADA – it is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed. Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  • Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments.
  • Provides screening to identify children with speech or language disabilities at regular intervals and at specified levels.
  • Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.
  • Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech or language handicaps.
  • Collects data on progress toward IEP goals.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
  • Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
  • Meets district and site staff development requirements.
  • Conducts annual re-evaluation to determine need for continued services and files written reports.
  • Completes all required special education paperwork in a timely manner to meet compliance deadlines.
  • Performs all other tasks as supervisor may assign.
