Reporting to the Director of Speech and Hearing in the Student Support Unit, the Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services for students with special communicative needs and disorders in assigned schools. Scope of Responsibility : Employs reliable assessment procedures, techniques and standardized tests necessary for thorough and accurate diagnosis and assessment of student needs and behavior and conveys pertinent information to cooperating personnel. Develops Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for each student receiving speech therapy. Plans and conducts regular teacher and parent conferences and IEP conferences. Plans, implements and modifies therapy procedures as needed. Employs varied service delivery models as the needs of the student change. Works collaboratively with school personnel, parents and other professional resources when supplementary diagnostics information is needed. Uses additional professional resources when supplementary diagnostic information is needed. Reviews relevant case files, including school and health records. Serves on diagnostic teams established in the district for the purpose of identifying, assessing and recommending placement/or treatment of students with disabilities. Performs other duties as assigned by the Speech and Hearing Director.
