About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the identification, assessment, and treatment of students' speech, language, and hearing disorders to help them achieve their full academic and social potential. This role involves direct therapy, collaboration with educational teams, and consultation with parents and guardians.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) certification (e.g., ASHA CCC-SLP).
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education guidelines and procedures.
  • Proficiency in administering and interpreting standardized speech and language assessments.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language screenings and diagnostic evaluations to identify communication disorders and determine eligibility for services.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with communication disorders.
  • Provide direct individual and group therapy services to students based on their IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and other support staff to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom and daily school activities.
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) or IEP meetings to discuss student progress, goals, and services.
  • Consult with parents and provide them with strategies and resources to support their child's communication development at home.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for each student, including evaluation reports, therapy notes, and progress monitoring.
  • Provide in-service training and workshops to school personnel on topics related to speech and language development.
  • Refer students and families to appropriate community agencies and services as needed.
  • Stay current with best practices, research, and advancements in speech-language pathology through professional development.
