About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Grapevine, Texas is seeking a compassionate and driven Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join their acute care team. This PRN role is ideal for therapists who enjoy fast-paced environments, critical thinking, and daily collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Minimum PRN requirements: 1 weekend shift of availability per month in addition to one high-need day (could be weekend or weekday), as determined by the needs of the department.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care.
• Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association or eligibility for Certification pending professional experience required.
• Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment required.
• Acute care experience, minimum one year required
• Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

• Competency with MBSS, strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans and deliver skilled interventions for patients in medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry and specialty units
• Participate in interdisciplinary discussions and make recommendations regarding NPO status, diet levels and instrumental assessments
• Document timely and accurately in the electronic medical record per hospital and regulatory standards
• Completing patient/family and staff education related to communication, cognition and swallowing, as appropriate
• Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives within our team
