About The Position

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) PRN Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together · Work location\: Texas Health Ft. Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ft. Worth, TX 76104 · Therapy Services Work hours\: On an as needed basis\: must sign up for 2 weekend days per quarter on call (submit 4 dates you are available and then you are scheduled for 2 of those dates) Weekend on call is from 8 am - 10 am for new stroke evals that have failed a nursing swallow screen, discharge pending patients, and newly extubated patient. Major holiday on-call requirement\: in a rotating list, to where you work 1 major holiday. Therapy Services highlights: · Supporting the 815-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital that has served the Ft. Worth and surrounding community since 1930. · Supportive team in an acute care trauma hospital.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology Required Or Other Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Required
  • SLP Experience with adult population, acute care hospital-based, inpatient setting.
  • SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Upon Hire Required Or SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Intern License Upon Hire Required
  • Need to have clinical certificate of competence CCC-SLP And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly R equired.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Problem- solving ability; Ability to teach others.
  • Time management skills; Good interpersonal and customer service skills, Basic leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate patient assessment and establishes plan of care.
  • Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment.
  • Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self-management and assistive equipment.
  • Documents all aspects of assessment, plan of care, and re-certifications in accordance with departmental, TJC, Medicare, and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Works in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and departmental personnel
