About The Position

Our clinic is designed for children and young adults and supports a wide range of communication needs including AAC, sign language, and play based approaches that help kids build skills while having fun. About the Program Our pediatric speech and language pathologists diagnose and treat a wide variety of communication disorders and support children and young adults in improving language, speech, and communication skills. We use child centered, play based techniques and alternative communication methods when appropriate including sign language and computer aided communication. Our therapy spaces are designed for engagement and comfort with toys, books, balls, and hands on materials that make sessions active and fun. Treatment plans are created with input from the childs family and care team, monitored regularly, and adjusted as the childs needs, abilities, and interests evolve. We also provide customized home programs so parents and caregivers can support progress between visits. As a multidisciplinary clinic, our physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists collaborate on evaluations to determine if ACC is the best fit for each client based on factors such as the level of physical and intellectual disability and our ability to accommodate needs with current equipment and facility setup.

Requirements

  • Current Ohio SLP license or eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team approach

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric experience through work, internship, externship, or clinical placement
  • Familiarity with AAC, sign language, and play based intervention strategies
  • Strong time management and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide speech language therapy services to pediatric clients in an outpatient setting
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a range of communication disorders including articulation, language, social communication, and AAC needs
  • Create individualized treatment plans in partnership with families and the care team
  • Provide family education and home programs to support carryover between sessions
  • Collaborate with OT, PT, and other team members to support whole child outcomes
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner consistent with therapy department and agency standards
  • Participate in supervision, departmental meetings, and professional development
