About The Position

Responsible for speech therapy services administered to patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, or swallowing disorders. Services will cover both the evaluative and therapeutic aspects. All services will be consistent with Medical Center and Rehabilitation Department operating objectives. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is a not qualifying factor to obtain the position. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital boasts 300 inpatient beds, inpatient acute rooms that are all private, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved ASHA curriculum
  • Possess certification of clinical competence, Speech Language Pathology
  • Possess current New York State Speech Pathologist license
  • Ability to communicate effectively to patients regarding the anticipated treatment plan, level of patient's expected participation, and expected outcome
  • Ability to relate to the public and medical staff as a member of rehabilitation team
  • AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to the date of renewal
  • As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided
