About The Position
Join our great team of professionals! Looking for a CF for our community-based program serving Early Intervention and CPSE preschool services in the Northtowns area. We provide excellent supervision; CFs have an assigned mentor/supervisor to provide support and guidance. The Speech Language Pathologist "SLP" is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders in an educational setting. In addition, responsibilities include the implementation of an appropriate Speech-Language Pathology treatment program designed to habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.
Requirements
- Master's degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program
- New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)
- Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate (for positions within a school).
Responsibilities
- Imparting knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction
- Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
- Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
- Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
- Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
- Communicates regularly with family/student.
- Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
- Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
- Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.
