About The Position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates patients' communication, cognitive, and swallowing abilities. The SLP provides goal-directed, activity-oriented treatment to promote optimum independence in functional communication and daily life tasks. The SLP provides for continuation of effective performance through education of the patient, family, or support system. The SLP works in the acute care and/or outpatient setting and may be required to float to other facilities within the network.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program
  • Current Massachusetts SLP licensure
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or in a Clinical Fellowship
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in acute care and/or outpatient settings
  • Additional certifications in specialized speech and language therapy techniques
  • Relevant clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform appropriate assessment battery to evaluate patients' chief complaints, speech/language/cognitive/swallowing impairments, and functional limitations
  • Develop comprehensive plans of care with appropriate, measurable, and functional goals
  • Plan and implement appropriate treatment activities to promote patients' communication, cognition, and/or swallowing
  • Provide ongoing reassessment and modification of treatment plans in response to patients' progress
  • Offer appropriate discharge planning and patient/family teaching, including home programs and recommendations for self-care
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation of evaluations, treatments, and progress notes
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Demonstrate effective time management and meet department productivity standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance regulations/requirements and limitations of reimbursement for professional services
  • Participate in professional development activities and mentorship programs
  • Make appropriate referrals to other disciplines (e.g., Audiology, PT/OT, ENT, neuropsychology)
