Specimen Processing Technician - Casual
About The Position
ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Casual Specimen Processing Technician. The work hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm every other weekend. In this role you will perform pre and post analytical functions that support the testing of specimens received in the General Laboratory. Requirements
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. ChristianaCare will not sponsor applicants for this position for an employment visa now or in the future.
- Your resume must be attached to your application, and you must have prior lab experience or equivalent science coursework to be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years applicable clinical experience working in a lab environment with specimens or equivalent college courses in the health care field preferred
Responsibilities
- Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
- Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
- Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
- Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery
