About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking a Full-time Specimen Processing Technician for the Microbiology Laboratory. This role involves performing pre and post analytical functions to support the testing of specimens received in the General Laboratory. The position operates on an evening shift, Monday through Friday from 2:30pm to 11:00pm, and requires working every third weekend and 2-3 holidays per year. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior lab experience or equivalent science coursework

Nice To Haves

  • Two years applicable clinical experience working in a lab environment with specimens or equivalent college courses in the health care field

Responsibilities

  • Process, sort, and deliver laboratory specimens and request slips
  • Print and properly affix identification labels to all incoming patient specimens
  • Prioritize incoming work, ensuring samples for stat testing are delivered to the appropriate laboratory section in order to maintain stated turnaround times
  • Communicate specimen priority to testing personnel upon delivery
