About The Position

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as needed Specimen Collection Tech to work within their IP Specimen Collection Department. The primary purpose of this role is to collect venous, arterial, and capillary blood specimens for analysis by the laboratory technical staff. The tech will also support and assist in obtaining non-blood specimens within scope, including routine sterile and clean catch cup urinalysis, nasal swabs for viral culture (such as COVID and flu), and throat swabs for strep or throat culture.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Phlebotomy Certification from an approved school OR 6 months experience (including venipuncture and specimen collections)
• AHA BLS
• Successful completion of the Medical Terminology exam

Nice To Haves

• Junior College/Technical School preferred
• National Phlebotomy Certification preferred
